This British style revolver was made in Leige in about 1875. It is about 40 caliber not 9mm – not 38, not 45 caliber. It is a very nice revolver with fine checkered wood and nice blueing and some jeweling.

The revolver is clean with about 80% condition. Very similar to the pair of revolvers Custer was using at the Little Bighorn.

European or Mediterranean Flintlock Pistol https://bluestemantiques.com/product/early-flintlock-pistol/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=early-flintlock-pistol https://bluestemantiques.com/product/early-flintlock-pistol/#respond Thu, 17 Aug 2023 17:48:52 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=231 This early flintlock pistol is not marked with any known makers mark but the proofs seem to be like early tower marks. Queen Anne period? Just a guess. It is about 21 inches long. The ramrod is too short to be used. The lock cocks and snaps but has no makers mark. The carving on the stock is fairly deep and heavily worn. It seems to be around 54? caliber. I don’t have any. More information about this pistol. It may be European or Mediterranean.– best offer

REVOLUTIONARY WAR KETLAND & COMPANY OFFICER’S FUSIL RECONVERTED https://bluestemantiques.com/product/revolutionary-war-ketland-company-officers-fusil-reconverted/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=revolutionary-war-ketland-company-officers-fusil-reconverted https://bluestemantiques.com/product/revolutionary-war-ketland-company-officers-fusil-reconverted/#respond Sat, 17 Jul 2021 19:39:49 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=119 A fine example of Ketland & Co. officer’s fusil from the 1770’s. It has deep wear to all parts but is very pleasing. The wrist checkering is half worn. It has a silver thump piece which has lost its’ engraving. The brass parts are nicely engraved. The ramrod pipes are Brown Bess style. It has a well repaired break in the stock at the front sling swivel. The breech proofs are KC, Birmingham, and Tower I think. There is another strike I do not know. The trigger guard has pineapple and splayed arms engraving.,The side plate has splayed arms.

The flint re-conversion was done very well and the Ketland lock plate is present. It has an iron ramrod. The gun is in good repair.

I offer this gun at about half the price of an original flintlock. No attempt has been made to conceal re-conversion.

$3200.00

COLT ARMY RELIC REVOLVER 1860 https://bluestemantiques.com/product/colt-1860-army-relic-revolver/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=colt-1860-army-relic-revolver https://bluestemantiques.com/product/colt-1860-army-relic-revolver/#respond Sat, 17 Jul 2021 18:57:06 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=96 This relic Colt Army revolver was found near Mesa, Arizona. It is missing its’ loading lever. Some parts move and the rusting is a bit of a puzzlement. The serial number is present, but you cannot see the numbers on other parts.

It has a great story, but it is silent. We often attribute these heavily used arms to the Apache out here. They used their arms pretty well up. I make no claims, but these are the guns that were really used in the west and not hiding in a chest of drawers for 150 years.

OLD BRITISH OR LIEGE PISTOL https://bluestemantiques.com/product/old-british-or-liege-pistol/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=old-british-or-liege-pistol https://bluestemantiques.com/product/old-british-or-liege-pistol/#respond Sat, 17 Jul 2021 18:54:07 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=93 Old British or Liege Double Barrel Pistol in Relic Condition. It was found in Yuma, Arizona. The grip has been replaced, but the barrels still twist and the hammer and pop out trigger still move. No markings are visible, but it is early 49er period and has been in the West a long time. I wish the story would stick to the guns, but the finders rarely will share the story.

This is a model 1841 Mississippi rifle. It was used to fame by a rifle regiment in the Mexican War. Jefferson Davis commanded the regiment. It is 54 cal. and was a favorite rifle both of soldiers and later civilians who took the rifles west with them. One thousand of these went to California it is presumed to arm a militia unit. This one came from California. It is in original 54 cal. seven grove configuration. It has the old sight and does not have a lug for a bayonet. There is a bit of a cartouche on the left side and an inspector’s stamp JLH for James L Henderson USN. The rifle was made at Harper’s Ferry and is in good condition. It has a lot of rust on the barrel and has no proof marks showing. The rest of the barrel is in good shape. It has an all iron ramrod of the period. It will not hold on full cock. The front barrel band retention clip is missing part of its pin and so does not retain the band. Another easy fix. I have done nothing to this rifle. It is as found. The lock is dated 1851. Let me know if you have questions. The Peace Flask is dated 1846 and was made by NP Ames. It is in working order and was used heavily so I presume it went through the Mexican War. It has scratches and small dents all over. It has smooth wear also and it really talks to you. I am asking 2400. for the pair.

Merwin and Hulbert 44-40 Early Model with Mexican Holster. This old frontier Merwin and Hulbert has seen a lot of miles. The rare brown grips are worn almost smooth and it shows a lot of holster wear at the muzzle. The holster was made to fit the revolver and is in the style used around the time of the Mexican Revolution. This is probably a local gun and it was found in Tucson. It was a nickel plated revolver, but little of the nickel remains. The gun works, but there is a spring broken in the lockup latch at the bottom of the frame. It is not an expensive repair. I have not gotten to it. It will open some times to eject the cartridges.

The holster was made for this gun and it shows a lot of wear. This is a Tombstone, Bisbee, Nogales, Tucson, or Mexico piece.

HALL’S RIFLE https://bluestemantiques.com/product/halls-rifle/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=halls-rifle https://bluestemantiques.com/product/halls-rifle/#respond Sat, 17 Jul 2021 18:21:49 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=62 This Hall Rifle has been converted to a carbine by a Confederate arsenal in South Carolina. Information can be found in John Murphy’s book, Confederate Carbines & Musketoons. This carbine shows marks expected on the butt plate. Inside 1S11 crudely stamped. The pan fence has been used as a flash shield, etc. Wiper rod was cut and re-threaded.

Chief’s Rifle https://bluestemantiques.com/product/chiefs-rifle/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=chiefs-rifle https://bluestemantiques.com/product/chiefs-rifle/#respond Fri, 16 Jul 2021 21:08:14 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=36 This is a chief’s treaty rifle made by J Henry and Sons. It is perhaps the finest one available for sale. It is mounted with nickel silver and is in very fine condition. It is not mint but it is not far from it. The trigger guard and butt plate are iron as is the original ramrod. It has a US mark back of the trigger guard which has been damaged but is partially visible. The ramrod is fit to the rifle so that it will not rattle because of a swell in the rod at the point that it passes through the ramrod pipe. See the photo. It has a double set trigger and nickel silver front site. I know of one other Treaty rifle for sale which has a fancy eagle patch box but it is missing the iron ramrod and has some other problems. I have priced this one $1000. lower.

British Bulldog 38 Cal. https://bluestemantiques.com/product/british-bulldog-38-cal/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=british-bulldog-38-cal https://bluestemantiques.com/product/british-bulldog-38-cal/#respond Fri, 16 Jul 2021 20:58:21 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=28 British Bulldog 38 cal. type revolver. This is a Belgian proofed 38 cal. pocket revolver of the type carried by many in the Old West. After most towns forbade the open carrying of firearms the men and women found these sturdy revolvers the perfect solution to their problem. There is a great new book devoted to them. This revolver is untouched and has a great deal of pocket wear. It is functional but the ejector rod needs a little coil spring to hold it in place. The grips are worn about half way and it has a light rust patina which I liked and did not clean. This is a real Old West 70’s or 80’s survivor. Custer was carrying a pair of Bulldogs at the Little Big Horn. They were everywhere, but Colt got all the glory.
