It is quite old and has a 10.5 inch head and a 22 inch long haft. It does not have a makers touch mark. I believe this to be and 18th century tomahawk. I have been told that it is more Spanish in form than French or English. It does resemble a Spanish Colonial ox gode in the way the point was finished. I am asking 1800. SOLD

Hatchet or Tomahawk-SOLD https://bluestemantiques.com/product/hatchet-or-tomahawk/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hatchet-or-tomahawk https://bluestemantiques.com/product/hatchet-or-tomahawk/#respond Fri, 16 Jul 2021 20:54:16 +0000 https://bluestemantiques.com/?post_type=product&p=21 SOLD-Hand forged hammer polled hatchet, 18th or early 19th century. This axe is just wonderful and untouched. The haft is 17 inches and it has an old thong that is very heavy leather. The haft is very old, but it is not as old as the head. I am not claiming that this is a tomahawk. However it could have served double duty due to the long haft. It does not show signs of use as a hammer as most hammer polls do. All the hammer blows from forging are showing and it has a nice flare to the blade. The haft is rusted solid to the blade. By that I mean that rust has filled the space between the wood and iron. The haft is very tight in the eye.
